Coccothrinax crinita or Old Man Palm has amazing hair on its stem and is definitely an eye catcher. It is a must have palm for any collection. Growing well in full sun, this palm as the name implies grows very slowly.

 


Alpinia purpurata 'Red Ginger' 3G/7G

This week's plant of the week is one of the poster child for all tropicals. Alpinia purpurata or Red/Pink Ginger is a great landscape plant with bright flowers. Available in Red or Pink, we have 3G and 7G available currently. Doing best in partial sun, this plant has a maximum height of 5-6'.

 


Calathea rufibarba 3G(10")

Calathea rufibarba's leaves are dark purple underside with a dark shiny green on the top. The plant has maroon stems with tiny hairs making it fuzzy to the touch. A small yellow flower will appear at the base of the plant. This plant prefers shade to partial shade areas with regular watering.

Alcantarea imperialis in 3G(10")

A great accent plant, Alcantarea imperialis has silver/green leaves with a burgundy underside. This bromeliad is great as a specimen in the landscape due to it reaching heights of over 5'. Partial sun to almost full sun is ideal for this bromeliad. It is also salt tolerant. The plant will have a large silver bloom spike once the plant is mature


Licuala grandis is a palm that has become very popular recently for interiorscapes as well as in the landscape. Licuala grandis is a beautiful palm with magnificent fan shaped leaves. Preferring partial sun to shade, this palm is a nice focal point in a landscape.
